About Our Founder

I have been a military history buff for as long as I can remember. I began collecting military medals, badges and uniforms while in grade school, and have built up a solid collection of primarily German and Commonwealth medals and decorations covering the two World Wars. I have also acquired many, many books, again primarily covering the same periods.

My parents both served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during World War II — my dad as a gun armourer, installing and repairing armaments on Lancaster bombers, and my mom in radio operations. Both were stationed in Canada for the duration, and attended the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr) after the war, which is where they met. My dad’s 2 older brothers also served in the RCAF, finishing the war one as a Sergeant, the other as a Squadron Leader.

Consequently, I have always loved to visit military museums wherever we have travelled, and have been fortunate to have been able to explore Edinburgh Castle, the Imperial War Museum in London, the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington DC, the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum in San Diego, and the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, among others.

I hope you find this website both interesting and useful, and if it is lacking, please don’t hesitate to let us know. It will continue to evolve and grow over the years, and I would love your suggestions.

I dedicate this site to my parents, and to all those who have served, and continue to serve, in armed forces around the world.
